Integration Programme

To whom? What are the deadlines?

If you are… a non-European foreign-nationality newcomer

Welcome! You will normally have received a letter from your local authority (appendix I) telling you that you are obliged to follow this Integration Programme. You have 36 months from the time you order your residence permit to complete it: don't delay in phoning CRI Centre & Wapi! You must comply with the terms of the agreement signed with the CRI Centre & Wapi.

People who do not have Belgian nationality, who have been legally resident in Belgium for less than three years and who have a residence permit for more than three months in a Walloon municipality.

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.

There are exemptions based on age, work, studies, illness, disability, qualifications obtained in Belgium and completion of an integration Programme in another region or community of the country. Turkish nationals are also exempt.

If you are… legally staying in Belgium for more than 3 years or/and citizens of the European Union or a family member of a citizen of the European Union

Welcome! There is no deadline for you to complete your entire Programme. However, if you wish to receive the final certificate for the Integration Programme, you must comply with the terms of the agreement signed with CRI Centre & Wapi.

People exempted from this obligation:

  • citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland.
  • family member of a citizen of the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland.

The 27 EU countries + Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein (30 countries).

What and with whom?

With the CRI Centre & Wapi

  • Meetings to take stock of your situation in various areas, such as housing, health, your level of French and learning the French language, employment and training, citizenship (rights and duties, etc.), children and young people, etc. = The welcome module.
  • Signing an agreement.
  • Assessment meetings to review your training and needs.

With partners (associations, institutions, etc.)

  • 60 hours of citizenship training.
  • Other training courses depending on your needs and expectations/obligations (in French, socio-professional integration, etc.).

The Welcome and Integration Department team works in collaboration with our social services department, our socio-professional integration department and a range of partners to whom the CRI Centre & Wapi refers you depending on your situation.

The are 17 Welcome Offices throughout the region, where you can, visit us by appointment only

An interpreter may be present. Depending on the location, appointments can be made in the morning or afternoon.
